Joy of learning science

Available in:

English, Hindi

Recommended age:

8+

Description:

This can be considered as taking students through a scientific process in a joyful manner. It is about the scientific process using simple materials like paper, etc. It also focuses on skills like prediction, observation, thinking, questioning, etc. This is designed to be an interactive session where students can perform activities/experiments in real time. This is like taking the role of a scientist and trying to figure out something new (at least for the oneself). A list of materials will be provided before the session so that students can keep those materials handy for the session.

Neuroanatomy

Available in:

English, German

Recommended age:

16+

Description:

This webinar provides a general overview of neuroanatomy, examples of structure-function relationships and how we can build off this knowledge to further understand brain function and explore potential applications of basic research. The webinar concludes with a Q&A session round.

Proteins: Building blocks of Life

Available in:

English, Hindi

Recommended age:

12+

Description:

This webinar aims to take students into the world of biomolecules starting from DNA all the way to proteins. Students will be able to answer the following questions at the end of the webinar: How proteins are made inside the human body? What are the proteins made of and how they differ from each other? What are the different type of proteins and their roles? The webinar will also have a short and fun introduction about how scientists work with cool proteins.

Sustainability in fashion, or How does your T-shirt contaminate the World Ocean?

I love studying microbial life, but I also love travelling. Therefore, I have combined these two passions by living in Portugal, Spain, The Netherlands, Norway, United Kingdom, Denmark and Australia over the last 15 years. It has been a fascinating journey where I have had the opportunity to work with some of the most exciting researchers, while also living in incredible places, and experiencing new cultures.

Nutrition and its effects on the brain

Comets are considered the frozen leftover material during the formation of the solar system. The Rosetta mission by the European space agency, allowed us to tag along with a Jupiter-family comet around the sun. The Rosetta mission was a mission full of firsts. For example, first to remain close comet for over 2 years. The journey to reach the comet took 10 years and Rosetta captured some close-up shots of asteroids along the way. We will learn what comets are, how they interact with the sun, and how can they tell us about the formation of our solar system. Recently, Interstellar objects have been confirmed as objects from other solar systems. How can we get a ticket to the next Interstellar? Let's discuss!

In this webinar we will do a briefly introduction to the different scientific theories of origins of life, giving a biological background which will include information about prebiotic chemistry and primitive life in an easy to understand way. A section about geology and enviromental conditions of early earth will be include too. This webinar will be taught in Spanish.

En este seminario web realizaremos una breve introducción de diferentes teorías desde perspectivas científicas sobre el origen de la vida, dando un contexto biológico que incluira información sobre química prebiótica y formas de vida primitivas en una manera sencilla de entender.
